CLEAN Cowra receives significant federal funding for Cowra Microgrid detailed feasibility.

With a target of a 10 per cent reduction in electricity costs, CLEAN Cowra Ltd.  is studying the feasibility of a 1 megawatt solar and battery microgrid in the Cowra, New South Wales. The project aims to bring together the energy needs of several large industrial businesses into a single embedded network, and see the development of energy generation and dispatchable capacity.

The project has been granted $1,031,556 in support through the Regional and Remote Communities Reliability Fund.

The feasibility study grant will help bring the microgrid project to investment readiness and if implemented, the microgrid could deliver a number of benefits including lower electricity costs, and improved energy security for participating businesses. The group is planning to include biogas powered electricity generation, adding a thermal network to deliver heat to local customers and expansion to more customers within the Cowra community.

The Microgrid will provide vital enabling infrastructure for the future distribution of energy in the region.
